Compensation Manager
Location: Manhattan (on-site 5 days)
Salary Range: $130,000 – $165,000 (base)

We are seeking a Compensation Manager with experience supporting large privately held companies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in administering compensation programs across diverse employee populations, including deep knowledge of long-term incentive (LTI) plans and the ability to guide stakeholders through equity-based compensation strategies
Key Responsibilities:
- Acted as a strategic business partner on compensation matters, supporting a large-scale commercial operation.
- Supported the implementation and administration of organization-wide compensation programs, including base pay, short-term incentives (STI), and long-term incentive (LTI) plans.
- Participated in and analyzed salary surveys to maintain a competitive market position.
- Managed job architecture data including job codes, job descriptions, and job families; maintained documentation and generated reports to ensure equity and competitiveness.
- Created and maintained comprehensive job descriptions within a centralized database.
- Conducted research and analysis to determine appropriate compensation for new roles and reclassified positions.
- Performed detailed market analyses to assess compensation trends and competitive practices, particularly in key geographic markets.
- Ensured compliance with federal and state compensation regulations, maintaining best practices in compensation strategy and execution.
- Delivered clear, data-driven compensation recommendations to internal stakeholders across various levels of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Prior experience with compensation work in large public companies and/or top-tier HR consulting firms (e.g., Mercer, Radford, Willis Towers Watson, AON).
- Proficient in forecasting equity and designing total compensation packages, including detailed understanding of equity as a compensation vehicle.
- Strong knowledge of LTI programs and applicable compensation regulations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and advanced formulas; experience with MS Access and Visio preferred.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and influence decision-making across various departments.
- Skilled at handling sensitive data and maintaining confidentiality.
- Adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
