We’re delighted to spotlight our female employees, celebrating our recognition as one of the 2023 UK’s Best Workplaces for Women! Each week, we’ll delve into the career journeys of these extraordinary women through three insightful questions, sharing their personal narratives, triumphs, and lessons learnt. We aim to inspire, motivate, and showcase the myriad of opportunities available in our organisation, demonstrating that at Oakleaf Partnership, every woman’s success story can be unique and significant. Join us in this journey of discovery, growth, and celebration.
What values or principles guide you in your career, and how do they influence your work?
I grew up with two parents who instilled an incredible work ethic in our family life. Seeing both parents work incredibly hard to provide a great and successful life for my brother and I made me determined in my university life and professional career to 1) work hard, 2) be competitive, 3) be fair. These three principles run through my career and the team I manage and work alongside. I have always wanted to strive for the best but always want to have fun with the colleagues that I work with and that is something that is very important to me.
How has your career evolved or changed over time?
Over the last eight years at Oakleaf, I have had a number of different and diverse roles. During this time, I have worked in four different roles and had two promotions. I have worked in our London business building our retail function, relocated to the Midlands to build our client relationships in the East / West Midlands before moving into my current role. In my current role, I lead our Midlands, Thames Valley and Southwest business, manage a team and concentrate on senior HR appointments across our retail, financial services and professional services industries. The evolution of my roles and the large change from the day I joined have been one of my career highlights (if not most challenging ones!) I love taking on new challenges and it has been great to work in a business that allows me to take that journey!
