Last Tuesday, over 60 “up and coming” talented HR professionals gathered for the first Oakleaf Partnership Academy gathering of 2016. Ollie Roberts, HR Director at SAB Miller, led discussions on the evening’s theme of developing your personal HR brand and how to have a greater personal impact. In his closing address, Richard Colgan stated that Ollie has developed an excellent personal brand over the years, underpinned by a strong financial understanding and personal/team delivery, as well as an “inquisitive approach” to business and excellent communication/networking skills.
Typically the HR function is so busy looking after the business that its own stable is often neglected. We recognised that HR professionals in the early stages of their careers are crying out for better opportunities to network and to develop themselves. This year we offered our senior clients the opportunity to nominate someone from their own function who they thought would benefit from the Academy and the take was phenomenal - over 60% of attendees were personally selected and sponsored to attend by their own leaders.
At Oakleaf Partnership, sourcing the best talent for HR and the associated professions is ALL that we do. We’re truly passionate about the profession and contributing to developing capability and excellence amongst nascent talent, which is why we established the Academy. The 2016 Academy is made up of four modules, each with a key developmental theme led by a high profile, successful senior HR professional who will also talk through their career journey and how they overcame obstacles on the way. Delegates get the opportunity to network with talented peers as well as senior HR professionals – expanding their personal network of like-minded, ambitious HR professionals and sharing knowledge, learning and best practice across industry.
The next event will be on the 30th June and the topic will be Personal Management - managing career peaks and troughs, WLB and handling workplace stress/pressure.
