As we come out of the first quarter of the year, I wanted to share what we’re seeing across Europe. There is a noticeable increase in demand for high-quality HR Business Partnering talent. Over the past few weeks, we have seen a rise in opportunities across the Financial Services, Technology and Legal sectors.
HR Business Partnering is shifting from an operational support role to a strategic lever for business performance. Organisations are looking for HRBPs who can partner closely with leadership, drive organisational effectiveness, and translate people strategy into tangible commercial outcomes. The expectation is clear: HR is no longer just enabling the business, but actively shaping it. Successful HR professionals are able to combine the following skill sets: commerciality, deep local legislative knowledge, fluency in local languages, and the ability to operate in both complex, matrixed organisations and scale-up environments.
Why is there a surge?
We are seeing the strongest increase across Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Luxembourg. As our clients continue to expand their regional presence, many have reached a tipping point where remote HR support from the UK or US is no longer sufficient.
At the same time, rising regulatory complexity across Europe is driving demand for HRBPs with strong local legislative expertise. Evolving labour laws, tighter compliance requirements, and increased scrutiny on employment practices mean businesses need HR leaders who can navigate local frameworks and apply them in a practical, business-focused way.
