Group People Manager

📍 London£60000 - £70000 per annumPosted 6 October 2026

I am once again partnering with this luxury office hospitality group who are seeking a Group People Manager to join their growing business for a 12 month FTC.

£60,000-£70,000 + discretionary bonus - Potential permanent opportunity

5 Days a week - City of London

I am working with an exciting and growing business to appoint a hands-on HR professional to lead the people agenda across the organisation.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR generalist who enjoys being close to the business and wants genuine ownership of the HR function. Working directly with the Chief of Staff and leadership team, you will act as a trusted HR adviser, providing pragmatic advice and helping to shape and implement the people strategy.

As the sole HR lead, you will have the opportunity to build HR in your own way, putting robust processes, systems and best practice in place while supporting the business through its next stage of growth.

The Role

You will take responsibility for the full employee lifecycle, from workforce planning and recruitment through to onboarding, development, employee relations and offboarding.

You will develop and implement the HR strategy alongside the Chief of Staff and leadership team, act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders and provide concise HR reporting at Board level.

A key focus will be leading the implementation of a new HR system and introducing AI tools, beginning with mapping and improving processes across recruitment, onboarding, training, performance, career development and offboarding.

You will own the end-to-end recruitment process, including workforce planning, job descriptions and advertising, agency and job board management, shortlisting, interviewing and offers. You will ensure all pre-employment checks, including right to work, references and relevant background checks, are completed appropriately.

You will create a consistent onboarding and induction experience, ensuring contracts, equipment, system access and first-week plans are in place from day one.

Employee relations will be a key part of the role, providing advice across conduct, capability, grievances, absence and flexible working. You will manage formal processes through to resolution in line with the ACAS Code of Practice, using external employment law advice where appropriate.

You will oversee absence, family leave, occupational health, probation, performance management and appraisals, ensuring processes are completed consistently and on time.

You will support organisational change, including planning and communication, while managing the people impact, resistance and conflict that can come with change.

You will develop and maintain HR policies, contracts, the employee handbook and HR documentation, ensuring these remain legally compliant and up to date. You will also maintain accurate, GDPR-compliant HR records and systems.

The role includes responsibility for monthly payroll inputs, HR reporting across areas such as headcount, turnover, absence and recruitment, and management of HR suppliers including recruitment agencies, payroll, benefits and training providers.

You will also support training and development, engagement and wellbeing initiatives, alongside managing the full offboarding process.

About You

We are looking for an experienced HR generalist who is comfortable operating autonomously and getting involved in both the strategic and operational elements of HR.

You will ideally have at least five years' experience in a broad HR Generalist role covering the full employee lifecycle, alongside a degree and CIPD Level 5 qualification. CIPD Level 7 would be advantageous.

You will have strong knowledge of UK employment law, HR best practice and the ACAS Code of Practice, with the confidence to apply this to complex employee situations.

Experience developing and implementing HR policies, processes and systems is important, ideally including involvement in an HR system implementation. You will have strong employee relations experience, sound judgement and the ability to know when external advice is required.

You will have experience supporting organisational change and strong recruitment knowledge, including workforce planning, selection and pre-employment checks.

Excellent communication skills are essential, with the confidence to have difficult conversations, build trusted relationships and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and at Board level. You will also have strong written skills and be highly organised, with excellent attention to detail.

You will be confident using HR systems, technology and Microsoft Office and have a proactive, hands-on approach to managing competing priorities.

Most importantly, you will be someone who enjoys being close to the business, understands that good HR is about both people and commercial outcomes, and is comfortable taking ownership.

What's in it for you?

You will receive a base salary of £60,000-£70,000 plus a discretionary annual performance bonus, with the potential opportunity to move from fixed term to a permanent position.

This is a genuinely broad HR leadership opportunity, giving you ownership of the HR function and the opportunity to work directly with the Chief of Staff and leadership team.

You will have the opportunity to shape and build HR processes, systems and ways of working, as well as playing a key role in the introduction of new HR technology and AI tools.

The business offers professional development opportunities, including support towards CIPD Level 7 for the right candidate. As an Employee Ownership Trust, employees share in the success of the business as it grows.

There are also regular team-building events, a fantastic pension scheme, a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, free access to wellbeing programmes, a personal season travel ticket loan and 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
