Interim Employee Relations & Consultation Specialist
Primarily Remote
£50k-£60k doe
I am working with a business looking for an experienced Interim Employee Relations and Consultation Specialist to support a significant organisational restructure, potentially involving collective consultation.
This is a specialist, hands-on role focused on managing the administration, documentation, timelines and legal compliance required to deliver a complex redundancy programme effectively.
Working closely with the project team and People Director, you will take ownership of the consultation process, ensuring every stage is meticulously planned, accurately documented and delivered to the required timescales.
This role would suit someone who has supported and delivered multiple redundancy programmes end-to-end and has a thorough understanding of UK redundancy legislation and collective consultation requirements.
Key responsibilities
Own and manage the administrative delivery of the restructure, ensuring all processes are accurate, consistent and legally compliant.
Build and maintain the master project timeline, consultation tracker and associated documentation.
Coordinate individual consultation meetings, manage schedules and proactively chase managers to ensure deadlines are met.
Prepare and manage all relevant documentation, including Section 188 letters, HR1 notifications, employee representative elections, at-risk and outcome letters, selection criteria, meeting scripts and notes, FAQs and consultation logs.
Support redundancy pay calculations and ensure all figures, dates and correspondence are accurate.
Monitor progress throughout the consultation process, identifying potential issues and ensuring nothing is missed.
Work closely with the People Director and project team to ensure the process runs smoothly and consistently.
Where required, prepare scripts and briefing materials to help people leaders navigate difficult conversations with employees.
About you
You will be an experienced redundancy and consultation specialist with a proven track record of supporting multiple redundancy programmes from start to finish. You will combine exceptional administrative skills with a strong working knowledge of UK employment law and collective consultation requirements.
You will bring:
Extensive experience managing the administration of multiple redundancy and restructuring programmes. Experience of a single restructure as part of a broader HR role will not be sufficient.
Outstanding organisational and administrative skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work quickly and accurately without close supervision.
Experience taking ownership of project timelines, trackers, consultation schedules and stakeholder follow-ups.
Strong working knowledge of UK redundancy and collective consultation legislation, including statutory thresholds and timescales, employee representative elections, fair selection, suitable alternative employment and appeals.
Familiarity with the full range of redundancy and consultation documentation, including Section 188 letters, HR1 forms, at-risk letters, outcome letters and consultation records.
The ability to remain calm under pressure while handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
A practical, delivery-focused approach, with the confidence to take ownership of the process and ensure every detail is covered.
Location & working arrangements
The role will be primarily remote, with occasional attendance at the London office as required.
Travel to sites may be necessary at key stages of the process, sometimes at short notice and potentially involving overnight stays. During particularly busy periods, on-site attendance could occasionally be required for several days a week.
