Our latest OP Academy event on 18th September brought together HR professionals in the early stages of their careers from a wide range of industry sectors. For many, it was their first experience of an OP Academy workshop, and we were delighted to welcome them into the community. Alongside new faces, we were equally pleased to see returning colleagues and Oakleaf alumni, underlining the strong network that continues to grow around the OP Academy.
The session was led by Sharon Wilson, an ICF-certified and award-winning Executive Coach with 17 years of experience supporting individuals and teams to thrive at work, in study, and in life. Sharon’s career includes her time at London Business School, where she was honoured with the Distinguished Staff Contribution Award for excellence in coaching and people development. She has coached professionals across industries as diverse as investment banking, law, education, and public relations, always with a strong focus on confidence, leadership, and inclusive workplace culture.
Sharon’s workshop was instantly engaging. The highly interactive nature of discussions encouraged attendees to share their own strengths and areas for development, and the steps needed to build long-term success in their own career journeys. She shared practical tools for navigating the challenges often faced in the early stages of a career. This could be developing emotional intelligence, building resilience, or preparing for leadership opportunities.
The discussion was lively, with participants openly sharing their own experiences and learning from one another as well as from Sharon’s expertise. Many commented on how valuable it was to gain concrete strategies they could put into practice immediately, as well as the opportunity to expand their peer network.
The event built on themes Sharon recently explored in conversation with our UK MD Amy Morris on the Women of Impact podcast. We are grateful for her insights and for another energising OP Academy session focused on developing the next generation of HR talent.
