Ex-Forces in Human Resources (XFHR) Event – 29th September 2013
The XFHR launch event at the new London offices of our chosen charity of the year, Help for Heroes, was a resounding success. Over £2,000 was raised for the charity, including £420 paid for two signed cricket shirts by Bobby Davis. The event was attended by ex-service men and women who now work in HR or resourcing roles. An inspirational talk by a young infantry Captain, Tony Harris, who lost his leg in a mine strike in Afghanistan reminded us of the essential work of the charity. It was a great networking opportunity with a bunch of like-minded individuals and, as you can imagine, the evening continued into the early hours! The aim of the group is to promote stronger leadership throughout UK plc and will meet on a biannual basis.
Senior HR Women’s Networking Event in partnership with Andrew Barton – 1st October 2013
Andrew Barton and Oakleaf Partnership joined forces to create an evening full of style, glamour and HR networking. Andrew, celebrity hairdresser on the TV Programme “10 Years Younger”, opened his salon doors in Covent Garden to nearly forty Professional HR Women in the City. He offered free hair style consultations, John Lewis Personal shopping experience, make up lessons and cosmetic dentist advice. Described by Andrew as “the most natural and comfortable place for women to come to together, discuss business whilst doing what they love – pampering!” The evening was a great success, sharing business ideas, networking and raising money for charity – along with copious amounts of champagne!
M&S HR Alumni Event – 16th October 2013
Oakleaf Partnership ran their inaugural “M&S HR Alumni” networking drinks at their offices on 16th October. The event, attended by over thirty senior HR professionals from all industry sectors (all of whom had previously worked at M&S), was a great success: old acquaintances were renewed, business cards and ideas were exchanged and a few glasses of wine consumed!
Richard Colgan, Founder of Oakleaf Partnership and Managing Partner, addressed the gathering stating that “Over the years, M&S has produced some truly outstanding HR professionals who had had an excellent training ground and are both highly commercial as well as customer and delivery focussed.” He went on to say, “This is not just HR….this is ex-M&S HR!”
