One year ago, the Government signalled a raft of impending employment law changes — from enhanced flexible working rights to reforms around unfair dismissal, trade union legislation, and employment status. While much of this was anticipated in last year’s policy agenda, the political landscape has since shifted dramatically.
Now, with the Labour Party in government and having reaffirmed its commitment to these reforms in both its election manifesto and the King’s Speech, we’re on the cusp of the most significant shake-up of UK employment law in years. Draft legislation is expected within the first 100 days of the new administration, with implementation likely to begin in the autumn.
Join Mike Cole, Employment Law Partner at Penningtons Manches Cooper, as he revisits the legislative changes that were on the horizon a year ago and provides an up-to-date analysis of what employers and HR professionals should expect — and start preparing for — now.
