Growing success of Oakleaf in the Midlands

We opened our doors to Oakleaf Birmingham in February 2016 and, in what feels like a relatively short period of time, we have established Oakleaf in the Midlands as the leading HR specialist in the region. When we launched the business, we were aware that there was a gap in the Midlands market for a specialist HR player who really understands the HR market and the profession. We recruit for many major employees in the region, in many cases on an exclusive basis. We work in partnership with many organisations that have established direct hire teams, but work collaboratively and compliment their direct model, often working on very confidential or difficult to hire roles.

We are really excited by the last 20 months, not only in the HR sector but in the Midlands as whole. Birmingham has become the only city in Europe to be named a “Location of the Future”, being recognised alongside investment hotspots including Ireland and Germany in Western Europe. The region has also been praised for its high-quality infrastructure, affordability, education provision and skilled workforce, with priority sectors in the region including automotive, tech, manufacturing, financial services and life sciences. Also, a recent economic report highlighted that growth in the West Midlands cities is expected to outpace the national average over the next five years.

We have also recently had the exciting news that Birmingham’s bid to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games has been officially backed by the government. Culture Secretary Karen Bradley has backed the bid, stating: “The Commonwealth Games in Birmingham would be brilliant. It would showcase the best of Britain to the world and make the entire country proud.”

Oakleaf are passionate about HR and the HR profession. We are experts in how to hire the best HR talent and how to manage HR careers. We host regular networking events including quarterly HR Directors dinners and Senior Interim Think Tank Events, allowing our candidates and clients to expand their network and discuss the latest trends in the HR market.

Oakleaf Birmingham continues to grow and we have recently appointed Amy Sharp to the business as a Senior Consultant. Amy’s recruitment career began in 2010 – she initially recruited for the Education Sector and more recently moved into a senior role recruiting HR and Education leadership roles. Amy’s focus is to continue to build our presence across Financial & Professional Services, Utilities and the Public Sector.

We recruit across all levels in HR from HR Administrator to HR Director on both a permanent and interim basis across the West and East Midlands Region. If you would like a confidential discussion either about your own HR career or if you have a recruitment need in your team then please call us on 0121 270 4639.
