Recruitment… a breath of fresh air

Employees at Nestlé are being encouraged to hold meetings while walking, as part of the company’s efforts to promote workplace health.
According to People Management (18th June 2009), “employees at Nestlé are being encouraged to hold meetings while walking, as part of the company’s efforts to promote workplace health.”
As part of the programme, employees have been provided with pedometers in the hope that this will encourage staff to compete in a four-month challenge to walk 14,000 steps a day. Staff are also being encouraged to spend their lunchtimes outdoors, to take the stairs instead of lifts and to hold “walk and talk” meetings in the local park.
“We are effectively paying people to walk and are legitimising it,” said Dr David Batman, Nestlé’s head of employee wellness. “During the recession a lot of people are worried about leaving the office, but we need these schemes more than ever.”
Whilst somewhat tongue in cheek…Oakleaf Partnership would like to support this by inviting any of the Nestle HR team who are considering a career move, or their colleagues within the resourcing team looking to recruit, to make contact. We’d be delighted to meet up to discuss any needs in more detail and perhaps Forest park would make an ideal meeting point?!
